About Kiki’s Blog

Hi, I’m Eki, creator of Kiki’s blog. I am a healthcare professional with a background in dentistry, research and regulatory affairs, with a passion for making information about new medicines and scientific research clear and accessible to everyone.

With so many medicines, both new and existing, it can be difficult to understand what they are, how they work, and what they mean for us, the consumers. I created this blog solely for information purposes, to explain complex medical and scientific information in simple, easy-to-understand language.

I have a bachelor’s degree in dentistry and two research based masters’ degrees in Experimental Oral Pathology and Clinical Drug Development (both with distinction). My work focused on developing a potential new treatment for gum disease, and investigated the potential for an alternative treatment for oral cancer. During this time, I gained in-depth insight into how new therapies are discovered, developed and evaluated for safety before being approved for use in humans.

I have also worked in regulatory affairs, gaining experience with the systems that ensure medicines are safe, effective, and approved for use. This included working with guidelines such as Good Clinical Practice and understanding the role of organisations like the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in protecting public health.

Through this website, I aim to explain the science behind new and existing treatments in plain English, to help you understand how medicines work. I also aim to break down medical jargon into everyday language.

I am particularly interested in the field of clinical drug development, where new medicines are first tested in people before becoming widely available.

If you are curious about medical research, and the science behind medicines, then this platform can give you clear information backed by evidence-based science.

If you have questions or topics you’d like me to explore, feel free to get in touch.
